About The Role

Magdalene operates as a Telecommunication Infrastructure Services Company and is part of the Telecom Division of M Group Services. Covering the full network lifecycle, we deliver Managed Services and Projects for both fixed and mobile infrastructure networks across the operator and utility markets.

We are looking for a Rigging, Installation and Commissioning Engineer to be part of our Field Engineering team based in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
 

What will you be doing?

Reporting into our Engineering Supervisor, your role will be to work on project installation activities within our Northern Ireland customer portfolio and will include working at heights.

You will work collaboratively with our Projects team, and our other field based engineers, including First Line Maintenance (FLM) and Installation & Commissioning.

You may occasionally be required to travel to other parts of the UK and the Republic of Ireland as part of this role. This role will also encompass working on an out of hours shift rota to ensure delivery of service on a 24 x 7 x 365 basis.

What will your key responsibilities be?

  • Installation, commissioning and fault finding / rectification of various telecoms technologies, systems and infrastructure; Microwave, SDH, PDH, Transmission, UHF, radio, mobile BTS and optical based solutions.
  • Rigging of antenna systems and support infrastructure for various RF communication technologies.
  • Ad hoc FLM and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities across our customer estates.
  • When working as a lead engineer, you will take responsibility for on site H&S and the wellbeing of our staff and contractors working on site.
  • Performing industry standard testing as required on telecoms and antenna systems (eg, BERT E1 and Ethernet, RF Sweeps, PIM).
  • Wiring and connection on DC power to telecoms equipment.
  • Completion of site surveys.
  • Timely completion of all handover paperwork for any activities that have taken place.
  • Providing ad hoc support on other projects as required.

What competencies are we looking for?

  • A strong understanding of telecoms systems and communication technologies.
  • Understanding of the contractual performance requirements associated with the task.
  • Excellent IT skills including the use of bespoke applications and all Microsoft packages.
  • Confidence to deal with our customer base.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and professionally at all times, both verbal and written.
  • Outstanding timekeeping with the ability to meet all deadlines as prescribed, whilst maintaining a high standard of accuracy during all works.
