About The Role

Morrison Telecom Services is currently looking to recruit a Senior Environmental Advisor to work within the SHEQ Team.  This is a national role and as such will be area based – site and office.

You will be joining us at an exciting time in telecoms within a fast and dynamic team. Charged with providing accurate and effective environmental advice to all staff operating across utility, construction and street works projects.

  • Determine site compliance against company, client and legislative requirements.
  • Ensure delivery of legislative compliance and promotion of continuous improvement of environmental performance.
  • Foster the development of environmental skills within operational line management.
  • To ensure consistent implementation of environmental standards across the contract.
  • Support operational personnel to deliver their environmental responsibilities.

As a Senior Environmental Advisor, your Duties will include:

  • Provide the necessary support and advice to ensure legal and procedural compliance.
  • Continual development and improvement of environmental the Environmental Management System (EMS) to maintain ISO14001 accreditation.
  • Liaising with the Contract Management Team on environmental issues and performance.
  • Provide support and guidance to operational teams and management on environmental performance and provide root cause analysis to aid relevant coaching and feedback.
  •  Engage staff and contractors on environmental performance on a day to day basis and support the delivery of objectives and targets.
  • Provide operational management and line manager with feedback on identified environmental risks and advise of possible solutions and remedial actions.
  • Assist operational management to promote environmental management and improvement at briefings.
  • Lead the attainment of CEMARS accreditation.
  • Overseeing and supporting the SHEQ and operational management teams on all matters attaining to environmental compliance.
  • Support in the preparation and development of contract specific waste management plans and environmental strategy plans etc.
  • Support in the development, maintenance, management and auditing of divisional / contract waste management plans.
  • Planning, coordinating and conducting environmental compliance audits within the business and suppliers to ensure compliance with the Environmental Management System and supporting the close out of any identified non-compliances.
  • Planning, coordinating and conducting site based environmental audits and supporting the close out of any identified non-compliances.
  • Update MTS systems with site audit data.
  • Travel throughout the UK to undertake site visits.
  • Collating all relevant environmental data for monthly reports, including trend analysis on each business unit.
  • Promote business wide targets and objectives.
  • Assist with and / or lead environmental incident investigations; provide advice, support and guidance on legal framework.  Ensure that learning points are fed into the SHE department for continued improvement of policy and standards etc.
  •  Develop and deliver briefings and environmental awareness training.
  • Assist with audits by internal and external bodies.
  • Participate in the creation of briefings and presentations.
  • Attend meetings as and when required to assist with environmental management.
  • Assist and support in the preparation of internal and external reports.
  • Participation in on-call rotas (on an ad-hoc basis).
  • Other tasks as directed by line manager.

Experience Required:

  • Experience, knowledge and application of the utilities/construction industry.
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of legislative requirements and best practice in environmental management and improvement.
  • Knowledge of waste management and CEMARS.
  • Ability to conduct audits, inspections and recommend preventative action.
  • Sound knowledge of I.T. programs.

Qualifications Required:

  • Degree in Environmental Management or similar qualification.
  • Knowledge and comprehensive understanding of ISO 14001.
  • Chartered or willing to work towards IEMA membership.
  • Full, clean driving licence
