About The Role

Morrison Telecom Services operates as a Telecommunication Infrastructure Services Company and is part of the Telecom Division of M Group Services. We deliver a range of essential infrastructure services to the utilities, transport, data and telecom sectors across the UK and Ireland.

We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to be part of our R100 project team based in Blantyre, Scotland. 

What will you be doing?

This role will form an integral part of the MTS Communications Division and will involve commercial management at both pre and in life stages of the R100 project. Reporting into the Commercial Manager, you will have responsibility for a specific lot of the project ensuring that all elements are dealt with in a professional manner that exceeds our client’s expectations.

The R100 Contract is a commitment made by the Scottish Government to enable access for all homes and businesses to superfast broadband of 30Mbps. This multi-year framework contract will see 4 years of implementing essential internet infrastructure across the Central belt, Dumfries, Galloway & Borders areas. This includes the urban environments of Perth, Glasgow, Edinburgh & Dumfries.

What will your key responsibilities be?

  • Establishing and implements a robust pre/post evaluation of all works
  • Planning and forecasting on commercial performance
  • Manage all direct and indirect operations O/Hs in line with budget and revenue fluctuations
  • Developing cost saving initiatives , driving the required margins into the business
  • Ensuring contract specific deliverables are achieved on a consistent basis
  • Managing delays and resolving commercial issues to enable swift job closure and invoicing
  • Building solid relationships with our customer and managing their expectations at both a senior and operational level
  • Attending and chairing meetings internally and externally
  • Risk management of the project
  • Reviewing contractual documentation
  • Completion of reports as required
  • Drafting of sub-contract, major supply and professional services agreements
  • Ensuring all back office personnel are deployed, motivated, targeted and supported throughout the project

What competencies are we looking for?

  • Competent negotiator and effective communicator when negotiating
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the communications industry at a similar level
  • Proven contract experience and an extensive knowledge of civils and cabling works within the utility sector
  • The ability to build rapport and credibility with all stakeholders
  • Passionate and determined with a drive to succeed
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities
  • Competent in the use of all Microsoft packages
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Able to lead, set up and manage site based commercial and reporting systems
  • Accuracy with a high level of attention to detail
