About The Role

Magdalene are currently looking to recruit an Engineering Desk Manager to work in our Network Operations Centre in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.

Our NOC is the hub of our organisation and is where ‘all the action happens’. We are proud to offer network monitoring services to a vast array of industry leading Telecommunications Providers. Our team of Operatives and Engineers liaise with our skilled Field Engineers in order to provide timely fault resolution and planned engineering works.

Your duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Responsibility for a team of NOC Engineers.
  • Attending regular management meetings.
  • Assisting with contract bids.
  • Working closely with our Service Desk Manager to schedule shift rotas.
  • Acting as a point of escalation for our NOC Engineers.
  • Identifying skills gaps within your team and providing the relevant training.
  • Ensuring your team and 3rd engineers are fully utilised and are meeting SLA’s.
  • Liaising with customers and attending regular ORMs.

Skills & Knowledge requirements:

  • Previous NOC Engineer experience.
  • Experience of working on a variety of equipment including DWDM, PDH and SDH.
  • Familiarity with both fixed and mobile networks with experience of liaising with those in both an office and field environment.
  • Experience in the use of a ticket management system.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel to produce reports.

Training on the management of people will be provided however previous experience / exposure to this would be advantageous.
