About The Role

Magdalene are currently looking to recruit a First Line Maintenance Engineer. This role is home based working on a weekly shift rota, covering areas in and around London.

As a First Line Maintenance Engineer you will be part of our field based maintenance support team. Magdalene are at the forefront of the provision of vendor agnostic services, providing 1st line support, and Planned Preventative Maintenance to a number of leading UK telecommunication operators. Covering transmission, mobile, datacomms and switching equipment.

The best in class service we provide is available on a 24/7/365 basis and we are seeking maintenance engineers to join our esteemed field force.

As a Field Based Engineer you will be required to:

  • Provide 1st Line Support and troubleshooting of customer equipment to include but not limited to:
    Transmission equipment, Mobile networks equipment, Datacomms equipment, Switching equipment, PSTN/ADSL, Building Management systems
  • Street Cabinet Works
  • Participate in a 24 x 7 duty rota system
  • Work to an agreed shift pattern schedule where required
  • Complete Planned Preventative maintenance on Telecom equipment
  • Revise and update technical documentation
  • Configure and test of wireless access points and network servers
  • Install and test DC rectifiers
  • Perform risk assessments on site
  • Install and test new analogue and digital circuits
  • Test and troubleshoot CAT5 structured cabling
  • Test and troubleshoot Fibre Optic Cabling with the ability to identify Fibre connection types
  • End to end testing of Customer networks
  • Produce timely reports for all site visits
  • Ensure all parts returns and customer reports are provided within specific customer SLA’s
  • Maintain on site records
  • Maintain cleanliness of all sites and report defects/problems

Skills and Experience required:

  • Previous experience as a mobile/field engineer
  • Knowledge of optical/fixed-line telecoms (ADSL/PSTN/Fibre/CAT5)
  • Knowledge of mobile technologies (2G, 3G, 4G)
  • Knowledge and experience of test equipment
  • Customer Service
  • Able to learn new technologies
  • Good oral and written skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Clean driving license (You will be required to drive for this role – company van provided)
